Delete your Chickadee account
You can delete your Chickadee account and the data stored with it at any time, in the app or by email. You don’t need an account to use Chickadee; this only applies if you created one.
In the app (fastest)
- Open Chickadee on your iPhone, iPad or Android device, or the web app.
- Go to Settings → Account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
Your account is deleted right away. The cards on that device stay there, so you can keep studying without an account.
Without the app
Email [email protected] from the email address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my account”. We may reply to confirm it’s your account. We delete it within 30 days and tell you when it’s done.
What is deleted
- Your account: email address, account id and sign-in links to Apple or Google.
- Everything synced to your account: decks, templates, cards, notes, review history, audio recordings and pictures.
- Card reports you sent while signed in.
- Your Premium record on our servers.
What is kept, and for how long
- Data on your devices isn’t touched: delete the app (or clear the web app’s data in your browser) to remove it.
- Purchase records stay with Apple, Google, Stripe and RevenueCat for as long as the law requires (for example, tax records).
- Our providers’ backups are overwritten on their schedule [to be confirmed: at most N days].
Subscriptions
A subscription bought on our website (Stripe) is canceled when you delete your account. An App Store or Google Play subscription is not: it keeps renewing until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings or in Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancel it first, then delete your account.
Only want to delete some data?
Delete decks or cards in the app; with sync on, the deletion reaches your account and other devices too. Signing out (Settings → Account → Sign out) stops syncing without deleting anything.
